Game Changer: Rethinking Ecology Through Video Games
THE VIDEO GAME WORKSHOP
University of Lausanne, Amphipôle, L’éprouvette Forum
What environmental models lie behind your favorite video games? Many games are based on competition, exploitation, and the accumulation of resources—a model known as “extractivism.” For example, they feature a hero setting out to conquer a world with inexhaustible resources... But can we play differently to transform our relationship with the living world? Can video games become a tool for conveying ecological knowledge? Through a selection of video games with innovative models, embark on an exploration of alternative gameplay styles and discover new ways to have fun.
Speakers: Roxane Borgeaud, Guillaume Guénat, Thomas Défago
