Creating Possibilities: How Can We Collaboratively Envision Desirable Futures?

To bring about a desirable future, we must first give ourselves the means to imagine it! But how can we concretely and collectively envision more desirable ecological futures that respect planetary boundaries? This workshop invites participants to experiment with tools for mediation, writing, and collective creation to bring these futures to life, tell their stories, and share them. Drawing on knowledge of ecological challenges and local initiatives—which are already mapping out alternative possibilities—set out to discover the sparks of the future present in our world. Together with author Magali Bossi, explore how science fiction and fantasy literature manage to unleash the power of our imagination. Practical and fun exercises, creative writing, and feedback on teaching experiences from educators will help you build your own toolkit to inspire students to imagine and write about desirable futures in a classroom, an institution, or a collective project.
